Pro Series Stage Micrometers for Transmitted and Reflected Light
The Pro Series accurate stage micrometers are intended for routine calibration of light microscopes. Manufactured with a vacuum evaporated chromium images on a glass disc. The scale is centered on the glass disc and mounted in a stainless steel slide, 75 x 24 x 2mm thick. Each slide has a unique serial number.
The Pro series stage micrometers are supplied in a polished wooden box to distinguish as a traceable standard. If you don’t need certification, you can also check out our Standard Series Stage Micrometers.
The Pro Series Stage Micrometers can be supplied with a choice of three certificates:
- GRATS Traceability, Certificate of Comparison (Graticules measurement)
This is a manufacturer calibration to provide a traceable standard. Intended for applications which do not require the accuracy provided by calibrations carried out by NPL or UKAS. Graticules provides a Certificate of Comparison for the scale which is compared with an NPL calibrated in house standard. A statement of accuracy is included. - UKAS Calibration Certificate
A UKAS accredited calibration laboratory carries out measurements at selected points on the scales and issues a calibration certificate. The UKAS certificates are internationally recognized. Example of UKAS Certificate. - NPL Calibration Certificate
This is a calibration carried out by NPL (National Physics Laboratory, based in the UK). NPL carries out measurements at selected points on the scales and issues a certificate of calibration which is internationally recognize. NPL, NIST, and PTB work together on an international level and recognized each other’s calibrations.
For the NPL certified Pro series stage micrometers we have a re-certification program available.
The stage micrometers have to be in good condition to allow for re-certification.
The turn-around time is 6-10 weeks.

Pro Series Stage Micrometers for Reflected light
These accurate scales are etched through a highly reflective vacuum coated metal layer.
When viewed with reflected (incident) light, as with a metallurgical microscope, the scales appear bright against a black background.
Available with horizontal scales of 1, 10 or 20mm and 0.1 inch.

Pro Series Dual Scale Calibration Slides for Transmitted and Reflected Light
The dual scale calibration stage micrometers have the benefit of dual imperial/metric scales.
The Pro series dual calibration scale is available for both transmitted light (black scale on glass) and reflected light (light scale on dark background).
These scales are intended for calibrating optical products with a large field of view such as stereo microscopes, video microscopes and imaging systems.
The scale is manufactured on a borosilicate (type B270) glass slide, 76 x 25 x1.5mm thickness with a unique serial number on each slide. Supplied in a polished wooden box.

Pro Series of Image Analysis Standard (Reference Stage Graticule)
Provides 4, high precision test areas designed for calibrating image analysis systems and identifying deviations and distortions in optical imaging systems.
The standard, which can also be used as a high precision stage micrometer, is supplied with recommendations for its use and an individual certificate of calibration.
It is produced on a 75mm x 25mm slide and has a square grid accuracy of 0.1 m and a dot accuracy of 0.3 m (except for the smallest and largest two dots on the root-2 array where accuracy is 0.5 m).
The four test areas are:
A 400 m x 400 m square grid which is subdivided into 200, 100, 50 and 25 m squares provides a means so detecting gross image distortions and can be used as an accurate two dimensional stage micrometer.
- A 20 x 17 array of nominally 15 m diameter dots can be used to identify lens distortions. i.e. to set the field of view to eliminate edge distortion.
- A root-2 array of spots from 3 m to 48 m diameter is used for determining the threshold level of cameras and microscope systems.
- A log-nominal distribution array of 100 spots ranging from 4.5 m to 27 m diameter enables the mean and standard deviation to be determined and compared with the certified values. This is an idealized distribution of maximum dynamic range for a full screen.
Supplied with a Certificate of Calibration from NPL (National Physics Laboratory, counterpart of NIST in the UK.).
Note: NPL is part of the International Metrology Group so that all of its measurements are directly traceable to the International Metre Standard held in Paris, France.
This means that the certificate is internationally traceable.

The Pro Series Universal Calibration Slide combines a large number of precise images/patterns on one slide; see table for patterns.
This is ideal for calibrating image analysis systems and sophisticated microscopes.
